Bulldog Battalion Excels at EKU JROTC Drill Classic 2017

The Clinton County High School JROTC Bulldog Battalion Drill Team won 2nd Place in the Armed Platoon Inspection category and 3rd Place in the Armed Platoon Regulation Drill category at the Eastern Kentucky University JROTC Drill Classic on March 4, 2017 in Richmond, Kentucky.  Both were commanded by Senior Cadet Major Dawson Waid, the Bulldog Battalion Executive Officer and Drill Team Commander.  Dawson is a member of the United States Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program and will leave for active duty later this summer.  Another key senior member of this Drill Team is Devon Redman, the Cadet Command Sergeant Major of the Bulldog Battalion.  Devon is in the United States Army Delayed Entry Program, and will also leave for active duty later this summer.  The CCHS JROTC Bulldog Battalion competed against some of the best JROTC Drill Teams in Kentucky at the EKU Drill Classic, including Louisville Male, Bullitt Central, Live Oaks, Central Hardin, Wayne County, McCreary Central, East Carter, Madison Central, and George Rogers Clark.  In addition to the team awards, Clinton County also took three of the Top Ten Individual Knockout Drill Medals in the Armed and Unarmed Knockout Drill events.  Joe Edwards won 3rd place in Unarmed Knockout, Harrison Wallace won 4th place in Unarmed Knockout, and Haley Herald won 4th place in Armed Knockout. One hundred twenty-five cadets competed in each of the Knockout Drill events.  The top five in each Knockout Event received medals.  All members of the Bulldog Battalion Drill and Color Guard Teams gave the best performance of the year.  This was a great day for the Bulldog Battalion.  Congratulations to the following team members:  Dawson Waid, Devon Redman, Shania Bagwell, Will Blake, Nick Bell, Jacob Stearns, Leo Oplinger, Gabby Longwell, Andrea Duvall, Haley Herald, Sarah Scheffler, Kaitlin Davis, Joe Edwards, Chandler Hall, Daniel Thomas, Deon Thomas, Renee Cash, Harrison Wallace, Vanessa Short, Brianna Sparks, Andrea Adkins, Madison Waid, Christina Speck, Abigail Turner, and Jasmine Brumley.
