CCMS art teacher, Mrs. Presley Sutton, recently wrote for and received a grant worth $1,600 for art supplies from Makerspace - a program meant to encourage creative thinking and problem solving. To do this, Makerspace provides art and technical supplies to schools that are committed to preparing students with the critical 21st century skills they need to succeed in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Mrs. Presley plans to use the materials she received to promote these fields by using the arts to creatively solve problems and encourage self-discovery. In her pallet she received a wide variety of supplies including boxes of crayons and coloring pencils, construction paper, artstraws, rolls of colored paper, pipe cleaners, foam pellets, modeling clay, dozens of rolls of yarn and much, much more. Ms. Presley is looking forward to working with students to make their creations become reality.
