America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and compete in teams to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. Students in grades 3 - 8 in the Gifted & Talented program competed on March 22nd & 23rd in the second Battle of the Books competition in Clinton County. The winning teams from each grade category and individual high-scoring participants will be rewarded with a trip to Sky Zone in Lexington over spring break.
The winning team from the 3rd & 4th grade competition was The Potterheads and Sonic. Team members include Corinne Beaty, Ella Rose Smith, and Clinton Moreland.
The winning team from the 5th & 6th grade competition was The JoJo Wolves. Team members include Ian Holdiness, Jonna Upchurch, Claire Guffey, and Loren Little.
The winning team from the 7th & 8th grade competition was Read Athletics. Team members include Katie Thurman, Makenzie Cope, Eli Rains, and Evan Claborn.
