3rd Graders Plant Broccoli in Raised Beds at AES

Colby Guffey, County Extension Agent for Agriculture & Natural Resources, visited AES on Friday, September 22nd. Mr. Guffey taught a lesson on plant parts before distributing broccoli plants to each 3rd grader, which they planted in raised beds behind AES. Students will have the opportunity to watch the plants grow, harvest them, and then eat the broccoli that they planted. The crops will be harvested in late November. In the spring, the 3rd graders will plant cabbage in the same raised beds. This project was a collaborative effort between the Clinton County Healthy Hometown Project and the County Extension Office.

Third grade students will have the opportunity to watch broccoli that they planted grow in raised beds at AES, and then harvest the crops in late November.
