On March 1, 2018, Albany Elementary School hosted their annual 21st Century / Title 1 Family Literacy Night. A special guest was featured during the Family Literacy night activities. Children’s author and Cumberland County native Joan K. Moore came and shared one of her children’s books with the students and parents. Mrs. Moore has authored a series of books about a beloved cat named Pickles who has many adventures. Her picture books are dedicated to supporting child readers and strong family bonds. Students also participated in various literacy activities that included storytelling and playing lots of fun learning games. Snacks were provided, and many door prizes given away as well. Students and parents were provided with free literacy materials and books to help make reading a family activity. Albany Elementary School would like to thank all the students, parents, volunteers, and community partners who helped to make the 21st Century / Title I Family Literacy Night a success!
