Clinton County Middle School received an Arts Inclusion award in the amount of $1,300.00, funded by VSA Kentucky, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities in the arts for children and adults with disabilities. This award funded a week-long program at CCMS with Burkesville teaching artist Patricia Ritter, which concluded on Friday, March 24, 2017. During the project, Mrs. Ritter worked with the entire 8th grade class to design and paint a mural on the walls in the gym entryway, illustrating the Determination + Attitude + Willingness + Goals = Success! motto. The DAWGS wall was designed by Nevaeh Warinner, the Balls and Bows wall was designed by Kayli Hadley, and the Pom-Poms were designed by Christin Shelton. All 8th grade students had an opportunity to contribute to the project by sketching the design on the wall or painting.
Prior to beginning the week-long project, 8th grade students worked on sketches that illustrated the DAWGS motto. Ms. Pat Ritter is pictured below discussing murals with the students and looking over their sketches on the first day.
Four days of sketching and painting resulted in a beautiful wall mural that the entire school can enjoy.
