G/T Students Break Out at Cookeville Escape

On October 4th & 5th, gifted and talented students from CCMS and CCHS tried to break out at Cookeville Escape in Cookeville, Tennessee. Most teams escaped, but a couple weren't able to solve the puzzles in time. An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players solve a series of puzzles and riddles using clues, hints, and strategy to complete the objectives at hand. Players are given a set time limit to unveil the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms. Cookeville Escape rooms include Spectrum, Intrigue, and Sea Dog. Spectrum is designed to mimic the brain. Left brained people are rational, organized, and logical. Right brained people are free flowing, creative, and adaptable. Students needed both types of thinking to escape Spectrum. In Intrigue, the students took on the role of off the books investigators for the FBI, and were enlisted to solve a rather challenging mystery. In Sea Dog, the year was 1580 and the students were locked in a cell aboard one of Sir Francis Drake’s ships. They had to figure out how to get everyone out before the ship sank.
