Third grade students in Ms. Mindie Anderson's and Mrs. Samantha Blackaby's classes have been learning about the Great Depression and what life was like during this time. As an introduction to this time in history, students observed photos from that time period and made inferences and connections to real-life through those photos. Students have also completed various tasks through the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) that have helped them to complete a Literary Analysis over the story "The Sign of the Cat." This story is about a young boy named Chet who lives with his grandmother during the Great Depression. Chet has an eye-opening experience about the importance of helping others in need, because you never know when it might be you.
